Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) said that “everyone who went insane” over President Trump’s fiery press conference on Charlottesville violence “is insane.”
“The ACLU, in their Twitter feed, said both sides came for violence,” Gingrich said.
“The truth is, the president is telling the American people the truth, and the elite media and the left hates it,” he said.
Gingrich said neo-Nazis and white supremacists should be strongly condemned but that some of the leftist factions present in Charlottesville have called for the assassination of police officers.
He said that both sides of the violent factions must be treated the same:
“Cut it out, ore we’re going to put you in jail,” he said.
